Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs allow consumers the opportunity to purchase fresh, local produce by providing the means to develop direct relationships with local farmers. CSAs are mutually beneficial for both parties. By paying in advance of the growing season, CSA programs support farmers by providing much-needed funds to cover the up-front costs associated with raising food. Consumers benefit by receiving a weekly box of the freshest crops possible; produce is harvested at its peak, resulting in a diverse offering of food unparalleled in freshness and nutrition. Many consumers enjoy the surprise of new and never-before tasted foods, since it is not uncommon to receive fruits and vegetables one may never have cooked or encountered before, so joining a CSA requires a bit of adventure and creativity!
As a Harvest Moon CSA member, you will receive a weekly bounty of farm fresh produce beginning in July and running through October. The offerings will vary week to week, depending upon availability; some crops will be offered more frequently. We send a weekly email to members listing the probable contents of each weekly share.
Some examples of items found in an early July, half share box could include carrots, lettuce, spinach, bok choy, kale, radishes, garlic and eggs.
*Early season boxes contain more greens. As the season progresses, members can expect to receive an increase in variety.
We offer two shares sizes to choose from and whichever you select is entirely based on your personal needs. A half bushel box/share generally feeds a family of four. Our full bushel box/share feeds a family of approximately six people. Of course, the size you choose ultimately depends on your lifestyle and eating habits, and your love for produce!
13 Week Season: June 27th thru September 19th
18 Week Season: June 27th thru October 24th
Pick up day is every Thursday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Members agree to pick up their box each week at our Farm Store within the pickup time window.
This year, we are delighted to announce our partnership with a local jem, Brewster Pastry. Nestled in the heart of Brewster, NY, this family-owned bakery has been the go-to destination for pastry aficionados and bread lovers alike for nearly two delicious decades. As a CSA member, you’ll have the option to choose from their classic plain sourdough, or a rotation of a different (sourdough?) bread flavor each week.
Every week, members will receive a different type of cheese from one of several NYS farms, all offering a delicious assortment of soft, medium, and hard cheese textures, and crafted from cow, goat and sheep’s milk. Members can expect to receive one package per week.
To provide our customers with the premium quality dairy products we know you deserve, we are now offering Battenkill Valley Creamery’s milk. This local farm operates out of Salem, NY and guarantees their dairy products to be fresh and all natural. They offer a variety of milks in glass and plastic containers such as: whole, skim and chocolate. Each week, members will receive their milk of selected varieties and quantities.
We raise a small herd of Red Devon cattle on our sister farm, located 60 miles upstate from Harvest Moon in Hillsdale, New York. Our cattle are raised entirely outdoors and roam freely across 1000 acres of open pasture. Our beef is 100% grass fed and antibiotic and hormone free! We are offering one pound packages of ground beef for the 13 and 18 week shares.
Fresh on the scene, we’re thrilled to introduce the highest-quality fungi, locally grown here in the Hudson Valley by Westchester Mushroom Co. Each week, your share will feature a rotating selection of gourmet mushrooms including oyster, lion’s mane, chestnut, and pioppino
We are excited to announce the first-ever CSA collaboration with our on-site cidery, Hardscrabble Cider! All stages of the hard cider process take place right here on the farm – from growing, picking and cleaning the apples, to pressing, fermenting and bottling the final product.
We simply love Irving Farm’s coffee– they provide the very beans that make up each cup of delectable coffee and espresso from our farm cafe. We have decided to share the love with you by offering two staple blends of their award-winning coffee: “House Medium” and “Gotham Dark Roast”, located in Millerton, NY.
We are so pleased to offer a truly local farm share from Wild Iris Flower Farm, a boutique flower farm based in North Salem, NY!
Their flowers are organically grown and harvested from hand-tended fields, and we are delighted to offer these high-quality blooms to our CSA members!
We love our customers, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
